Topic: Your Angel Envy You

Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 1:14 NIV - Therefore, angels are only servants—spirits sent to care for people who will inherit salvation.”

Thank you, Lord, for another beautiful week as we search for another treasure in Your Word today. Amen.

I once heard a sermon from a man of God who shared a story about one of the fathers of faith in his country. Many years ago, this father of faith had a meeting with his church members late in the evening. Not far from the meeting place, a group of people was arguing and making noise. Despite his efforts to concentrate, he struggled to focus.

Curious about the commotion, he asked who was making the noise. He learned they were herbalists holding a meeting. So, he decided to confront them with his lamp, as electricity was not available in the area at the time.

Upon reaching them, he looked at the group, turned sideways, and said, “Angel of God, hold this lamp for me,” stretching his right hand towards an invisible being. All the herbalists saw was a lamp hanging in the air. He then addressed them, saying, “You people have been disturbing my meeting. I don’t want to hear any more noise from you.” After that, he turned to the invisible being and said, “Angel of God, thank you. Now, give me back my lamp.” The herbalists, frightened, quickly left.

Your angels envy you because they are your servants. They exist to serve you, but most believers are unaware of this because they do not read the Word of God.

Why do your angels envy you?

1. You are made in the image and likeness of God.

2. You have free will; you are not a robot.

3. You have been crowned with honor and glory.

4. They are your servants and must obey you as long as you are in Christ Jesus.

5. You are redeemed with the precious blood of the Lamb.

Let me elaborate a bit more. If it were possible, angels would wish for a second chance if they made mistakes. Those who rebelled in heaven were cast out with no opportunity given for repentance. They remain eternally bound in chains, awaiting judgment from God.

But here we are, you and I, after falling from grace, with an opportunity for redemption. Praise the Lord!

The father of faith, whose story I just shared, understood that angels—no matter how powerful or intimidating they appear—should not be worshipped (see Revelation 19:10, 22:9). If that angel were human, he might say, “Hold your lamp by yourself; I am busy right now.” However, he knows that everlasting torment, with no chance of repentance, awaits him.

We have the gift of Jesus Christ, who intercedes for us at the right hand of the Father, while such grace does not extend to the angels. Ultimately, we believers will judge angels—praise the Lord! 1 Corinthians 6:3

This is why, if you stand right with God, you can also judge demons by sending them to dry places.

Reflection: Do you truly believe that your angel envies you? Read this devotional writing again and meditate on it. May the Lord grant you understanding in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayers: Our Father in heaven, thank You for today’s word. Thank You for the gift of life and for Your son, Jesus Christ. Thank You, Father, for creating us in Your image and likeness. To You be the glory in Jesus' name. Amen.

Other works of Angels

Angels often help people. For example, they fed Elijah when he was in the wilderness (1 Kings 19:5-6). They protected Daniel from lions (Dan. 6:22). They rescued Hezekiah from the Assyrians (Isa. 37:36). They also freed Peter from prison (Acts 12:7-10)..
