Topic: STANDING ON THE WORDS BEYOND THE MISCONCEPTION AND FALLACY

Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 4:12 NIV. The word of God is alive and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, it penetrates even to divide soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart" (NIV).

Welcome, it's a beautiful day in Jesus amen. A Story is told about a local man who got saved. He was very excited about his new faith as he vowed to obey every aspect of the Scripture. Hence, he started attending his church Bible classes, even with his very limited English communication.

One day, a sermon was given in the English language, and he was in that Bible class that day. The Emphasis was” how to stand “on the word of God. No matter what you may be going through, just stand on the word. The devil fears the word of God. Whatever the challenges are, they must go”. So immediately he got home, he told his wife that he had just found a solution to their poverty and wretchedness, he said, he never

Knew that it was so easy to change things and all the while they had been suffering. His wife asked for the solution, and he told her what he heard at the church that day. All he needed was to stand on the words constantly, and their situation would change.

Because his wife was even more ignorant than he was, she agreed. So he would bring his Bible and stand on it day in and day out. But nothing changed in his life; he felt he was not standing on it enough, and he even forgot the few scriptures he knew by heart. So he started getting tired, but thought of putting in more hours on it. Because he heard that people easily give up.

One day, he decided to do more than the normal way of standing on the words and fainted. He was so exhausted that he fainted. His wife shouted for help and he was revived. In the midst of all these, his missionary friend, who converted him, came around to pray with him.

So the missionary wanted to know what had happened that he fainted. He said, “ I have been trying to stand on the words of God to change my life better. “ That's good, said the missionary. “ The Lord will strengthen you more in Jesus' name “. But the man was looking at his dirty Bible on the floor, which was supposed to still be new since his missionary friend gave it to him just a few weeks after his convention.

While your Bible is so dirty, the local man looked at the Bible hesitantly and said I have been standing on it with my feet, and this is why I fainted due to exhaustion, sir”.

What a funny story. I remember when I was much younger, we heard people say, if one does not want to dream bad dreams, just put a copy of the Holy Bible under your pillow. You won't have bad dreams Those are fallacies. Standing on the word of God actually means “ Staying on the promises of God, and believing in them”. Without giving in to the devil.

There are so many fallacies that people associate with the words of God, which are not even biblical, because of the Bankruptcy of the words of God, a lack of understanding.

Another lesson that we should learn here is that the missionary got the local man converted and abandoned him. He got too busy to check on him. The rule is that a new convert should not be left alone, as he is considered a baby Christian, if the missionary was paying enough attention to the man. He would have had more understanding and wouldn't have engaged himself in goose chasing.

Reflection: A few things will show us the importance of following up on our new converts in Christ till they are well established in the kingdom. We all should endeavor to search ourselves if we actually have enough words in our arsenal. Let's reflect on all these.

Prayers, Lord, thank you for all you do for us. Thank you for the privilege of knowing you. We ask for more grace as we grow in your knowledge in Jesus' name amen.
