Topic: Small Feet (The Chinese Foot Binding)

Anchor Scripture: “And the world passeth away, and the lust thereof: but he that doeth the will of God abideth forever.” 1 John 2:17 KJV.

Centuries ago, the Chinese people practiced the painful tradition of binding young girls' feet. Typically, the girl's mother would choose the time to begin the process, which involved breaking and tightly wrapping the feet to achieve a specific shape.

This beauty standard caused immense suffering and often resulted in lifelong disabilities. Many of these girls were unable to perform hard labor on farms due to their restricted mobility.

Foot binding served as a way for wealthy families to demonstrate that their daughters did not need to work, as they could afford to hire servants. However, this practice was officially abolished by the Republic of China in 1911.

The anchor scripture teaches us that things without eternal value should not be our priority. Since nothing in this world is permanent, consider this: if you were to change your gender, what if you later decided to revert to your original identity? Many trends and fashions can lead to bodily harm or even death. What seems fashionable today may appear strange tomorrow.

Avoid any fashion that poses risks to your well-being. In 2025, resolve to focus on things that hold eternal significance. What is trending today, may look crazy tomorrow. This is what the scripture means by saying the world passes away, trends, fashion, and beauty will ultimately fade away

Why kill yourself over the latest trends of today when they will expire, and new ones will come? The truth is no one can keep up with the world. It's rolling every day. And when you are sick, die, the world will not cease.

OUR LESSON TODAY:

Do not try to conform to the world's standards. If anything hinders your faith or belief in the words and love expressed in the Bible, distance yourself from it.

LESSON:

Let us take a moment to reflect on today's devotion. We should direct our strength, gifts, and grace toward pursuits that hold eternal value.

PRAYERS:

Heavenly Father, we ask for your guidance today to help us identify what gives us eternal value. In Jesus' name, amen.
