CHRISTIAN TREASURE DEVOTION

Scriptural Reference: > "I tell you the truth, if you had faith even as small as a mustard seed, you could say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it would move. Nothing would be impossible." — Matthew 17:20 (NLT)

May your heart be stirred and your faith ignited as you read, in Jesus’ name. Amen.

THE IRONY OF BELIEF

There is a famous story about a small town that had remained "dry" for years until a businessman decided to open a liquor store right next to a local church. Outraged, the congregation began a series of intense prayer meetings, asking God to intervene and protect their community from what they called an "abomination."

Shortly after, during a massive storm, a bolt of lightning struck the liquor store, burning it to the ground.

The owner, knowing the church had been praying against him, sued the church for the loss of his livelihood. In court, the church hired a lawyer to argue that they weren't responsible—that the lightning was merely a "natural event." After hearing both sides, the judge remarked, "I’m not sure who is right, but it seems the liquor store owner believes in the power of prayer more than the church members do!"

The Question for Us: How often do we pray for a miracle, but then scramble for "logical" excuses when God actually answers?

The Silent Thief: Why We Hesitate to Testify

The enemy doesn't mind if you get healed or blessed, as long as he can keep you from saying, "This is what the Lord has done!" Whether it is a terminal illness or a minor headache, the moment you refuse to give God the glory, you allow doubt to steal the seed of your miracle. Many people receive a breakthrough and then allow "medical logic" or "coincidence" to explain away God's hand.

Consider a woman who struggled for years with infertility. After every medical treatment failed, she sought prayer. When she finally conceived twins, the doctors pointed to her previous fertility drugs as the cause. While the drugs were a factor, we must ask: Why didn't they work until after the prayer? Don't let a "plausible explanation" rob God of His praise.

Takeaways for Today

In Matthew 17:20, Jesus teaches us that it isn’t about the size of your faith, but the object of your faith. A mustard seed is tiny, but it contains the DNA of a giant tree.

STOP DESCRIBING THE MOUNTAIN:

We spend so much time telling God how big our problem is. Faith starts speaking to the mountain about how big our God is.

Quality Over Quantity: You don't need "mountain-sized" faith; you just need "God-sized" confidence in a small seed of faith.

Boldness in Victory: When the breakthrough comes, don't be shy. If God did it, say so! Your testimony seals your victory and encourages others.

ASSIGNMENT: Identify one "mountain" in your life today. Instead of complaining about it to others, speak the Word of God directly to it. Believe that when you pray, heaven moves.

PRAYER: Heavenly Father, thank You for the power of faith. Forgive me for the times I have doubted Your intervention. Today, I choose to believe Your Word over my circumstances. Be glorified in my victories, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
