Topic: HE WILL LIFT YOU IN DUE SEASON

Anchor Scripture: 1 Peter 5:6 - "Humble yourselves under God’s mighty hand, that He may lift you in due time."

A story about a marriage seminar was shared where husbands were instructed to lift their wives and carry them in their arms. All the husbands complied except for one. The wife, feeling embarrassed and frustrated for being the only one left out, insisted her husband follow the counselor's instructions. The man looked at his plus-sized wife and said, “I can’t lift you in my arms, but don’t worry, I will surely lift you up in prayers. That's still lifting!” It’s a funny scenario.

Welcome to today's devotional; may you be blessed as you read this in Jesus' name, amen.

Taking a cue from our anchor scripture, we learn that God is the true lifter of everyone, not humans. Sometimes, humans may not be able to lift you up. This is where we must place our trust in God; we cannot always rely on people, as they may not possess the means to support us.

What does "LIFTING" mean in this context?

- God’s lifting means grace. A person filled with grace is like a balloon man.

- It signifies help (Ebenezer).

- It represents favor. (Psalm 5:12)

- It implies elevation. When God raises you, it will be beyond ordinary—it will surpass any expectations. For instance, in your workplace, you might receive double promotions, especially if you've been overlooked for many years.

1 Samuel 2:8 states, “He raises the poor from the dust and lifts the beggar from the dung heap.” This means that even those considered lowly can be elevated through God’s promotion.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES:

- MORDECAI was the uncle of Esther, a Hebrew girl who became queen in the book of Esther. Mordecai was initially just a gatekeeper, but when God lifted him up, he became second-in-command to the king of Persia.

- ESTHER was a foreigner in Persia. Despite her background, she found favor and became queen. That is an example of divine lifting.

- JOSEPH was a slave and later a prisoner in Egypt. When the time was right, he was lifted to become the second-in-command to Pharaoh (Genesis).

- DANIEL was elevated beyond measure in a foreign land and served two successive governments despite opposition against him.

- MOSES is another example; he was described in the Bible as the meekest man on earth, signifying that he was teachable, calm, and humble. God lifted him extraordinarily at the appointed time.

Let us not forget our Lord Jesus Christ, Abraham, and Mary, the mother of Jesus—all were lifted in their seasons.

What are the takeaways from these examples? Let’s examine them.

- HUMILITY: All these individuals shared a common trait: humility. The Bible teaches that "God resists the proud, but gives grace (or favor) to the humble." Jesus exemplified this humility, always being obedient to His Father.

- SEASONS: God has specific seasons during which He lifts people. When the time comes, He acts accordingly. Remember that God operates within the framework of time and seasons; He doesn’t act randomly. When your season arrives, heaven will remember you!

- MIGHTY HANDS: Regardless of your size—whether you're plus-sized or otherwise—God's hands are strong enough to carry you. All you need to do is remain under His mighty hand.

REFLECTION: Take a moment to quietly reflect on today’s reading. Ask God to lift you up in any a where you feel you need His support, and trust that the Lord will assist you in Jesus' name.

Let’s Pray:

Our Father in heaven, thank You for Your Word today. Thank you for being the lifter of my head. Please lift me beyond measure in Your mercy, in Jesus' name, amen. When men are cast down, we will say, "There is a lifting up.”
