CHRISTIAN TREASURE DEVOTION

EVEN DEVILS CRY FOR HELP

ANCHOR SCRIPTURE: Luke 8:31 NASB “And they were begging Him not to command them to go away into the abyss.”

INTRODUCTION: Christians often wonder if demons cry out for help. Demons do feel pain when they are tormented; in fact, they beg their tormentor when they are suffering. Let's gain a deeper understanding of this deliverance story.

WHERE DOES THE DEVIL LIVE? (AN EXPERIENCE) A REAL DELIVERANCE EXPERIENCE)

I once witnessed a deliverance session in a church involving a young lady. At first, I did not understand what was happening, as I saw this lady on the floor rolling and shouting while a group of people, identified later as the deliverance team, prayed fervently over her.

I stood at a distance, observing the scene. The voice coming from the lady initially argued with the leader of the deliverance team, insisting it would not leave her. It was quite frightening to watch as she screamed and fought against them. After some time, she fell silent, but then an argument ensued between her and the deliverance team. The voice insisted it would not leave, claiming that the young lady had opened the door for it through her lifestyle. Suddenly, in a shocking moment, she stood up, lunged toward the leader of the deliverance team, and shouted, “So where do you really want me to go? This has been my home for years!”

They responded, “Go to a dry place; that is where you belong.” This interaction was both terrifying and dramatic. The lady then fell to her knees, and the voice began to beg for mercy while the team continued their prayers. Eventually, the voice said, “Okay, I agree, I will go out of here,” and it cried out bitterly. As the deliverance team intensified their prayers, she collapsed as if she had fallen asleep. That was her moment of deliverance, and later, I saw her calm and receiving counseling before leaving the church.

Many Christians are unaware that demons cry out in suffering or defeat. If only you could see how demons fear the spiritual warfare waged by Christians! If God opened your spiritual eyes or ears, you would rejoice knowing that your prayers are making an impact, even if you have yet to see the results against the demons troubling you.

DO DEMONS REALLY CRY? A BIBLICAL PROOF LUKE 8:27

Yes, demons do cry out for help and eventually flee if you maintain the momentum of your prayers, as illustrated in the story I just shared. It is vital to persist in your efforts against demons until you achieve the desired outcome.

BIBLICAL EXAMPLES OF DEMONS CRYING AND BEGGING TO BE LEFT ALONE: LUKE

Our anchor scripture shows that when Jesus was about to cast out demons from a man possessed, He asked for their name, and they replied, “Legion,” meaning many. Immediately, the demons began crying to Jesus through the man, asking, “Have you come to drive us out before our time?” (Verse 27). This reaction stemmed from their fear of torment and being sent to a dry place. Demons fear dry places because they require bodies to possess. They begged Jesus not to send them to the abyss, but the Master noticed a herd of swine feeding nearby and drove the demons into them. Consequently, the herd rushed into the water and drowned (Verses 31-32).

CAN MY LIFESTYLE ATTRACT DEMONS TO ME?

Yes, as demonstrated in the story of the young lady, lifestyle choices can open doors to demons.

Behaviors such as

  • bitterness,

  • Sexual immorality

  • lying, cheating,

  • malice,

  • hatred

  • Occult Practices. Reading occult material s, e.g., Tarot cards, Ouija board, etc

  • And any form of unrighteousness can invite demonic influence.

CONCLUSION: DO NOT GIVE UP IN PRAYER

This devotion encourages us not to give up easily when faced with the activities of the devil. They are not to be feared; they, too, feel pain and fear torment and dry places. If you maintain your spiritual momentum, you will overcome them.

PRAYERS: THE KEY TO SPIRITUAL WAREFARE

Thank you, Father, for your words to me today. Be glorified, Lord, in Jesus’ name. I ask that you give me the strength to pray and make me your battle axe to destroy the kingdom of darkness, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
