Title: You Are Rugged: You Won't Die Like a Chicken

DEVOTIONAL READING

A poultry farmer recently shared a story about how a passing wedding procession caused him to lose several chickens within minutes. The loud music threw the birds into a severe panic. A post-mortem autopsy later revealed they had died of cardiac arrest. The farmer ultimately sued the wedding organizers for damages.

There is a reason people pray against "dying like a chicken." God created you in His own image and likeness, which is why you are still standing strong, resilient, and elevated. You have survived challenges that would have broken others because you do not have the fragile heart of a chicken—one that panics, scatters, and collapses at the first sign of trouble.

Consider the betrayals and false friends you have outlasted. You survived because God built you tough. Today, boldly declare: "I am rugged, and I will not die like a chicken!"

When people are called "chicken," it implies weakness. However, Proverbs 24:16 reminds us, "For though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again." God is your Maker. He holds your "factory settings" and knows your limits. Whenever life becomes unbearable, He will provide the strength to see you through. A chicken's instinct is to fly into a frantic, muddy panic when startled. But you were created for higher ground.

DIVING DEEPER

The Bible describes Jesus as the Lion of the Tribe of Judah. As a member of His spiritual family, you inherit that same fierce identity. You are far stronger than you realize.

Like a lion, you have been given the inner strength to overcome the enemy and defeat adversity—whether it appears as sickness, lack, or emotional distress. Fear does not come from God. He has explicitly promised that He has not given you a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and a sound mind.

Furthermore, 1 John 4:18 tells us that "perfect love drives out fear." God wants you to trust Him completely so you can avoid the trap of anxiety and depression. Remember His promise in Jeremiah 1:5: He planned your entire life before you were even born.

REFLECTION QUESTION

Are you currently facing a difficult season? Try to view this hardship as a time for spiritual growth, rather than a time for grumbling.

JOURNALING PROMPTS

Identify the area of your life where you are facing the biggest challenges right now. Write them down, and prayerfully commit them into God’s hands.

PRAYERS

Lord, thank You for Your word today. Thank You for creating me in Your image and making me resilient. Father, thank You for giving me the strength to weather every storm that comes my way. To You be all the glory, in Jesus' name. Amen
