Topic: Confidence on One Leg
Anchor Scripture:** Luke 12:24 NLT – "Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be."
Welcome to another beautiful day. Amen.
I once watched a Christian movie about a married couple who faced problems just months after their wedding. The man married the woman for her beautiful legs and loved showing her off to his friends, treating her like a trophy.
Sadly, an accident left the wife in a wheelchair, raising doubts about whether she could walk again. This event showed the true nature of their relationship.
The husband became hostile. He refused to help with chores, complained, and said her presence made him feel sick. He struggled with his identity as he lost his pride.
One day, their pastor visited after the wife shared her pain. The pastor offered kind advice, reminding the husband of how loving he used to be.
The husband pointed at his wife in the wheelchair and said, “I can’t because I married her mainly for her legs.” His words shocked her and made her cry.
The pastor looked at him closely and said, “Your marriage was standing on one leg. What happens now that the legs are gone?”
What Are We Learning Today?
Our anchor scripture teaches us not to place our confidence in temporary things. We should focus on what truly matters.
We learn to stay focused in life. Even when things don’t go our way, we must remain faithful and hopeful, trusting that God understands our struggles and will guide us through.
We must remember that circumstances can change suddenly. Our confidence and hope should rest in the strong God. Relying only on family, children, or spouses can disappoint us during tough times. The world is always changing, and we must seek God's grace to remain calm in difficult situations.
Reflection:
As you look around you, remember not to rely too much on your job, business, or changing rules. Instead, trust in our loving Father in Heaven. May the Lord help us, in Jesus' name.
Prayers:
Dear Father, thank you for always being there for us. Give us the grace to put all our confidence in You, in Jesus' name.
