Topic: YOU CAN TRUST HIM

Anchor Scripture: Jeremiah 1:5, KJV “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you; before you were born, I set you apart and ordained you as a prophet unto nations.”

I want to share a story from when I was in the fifth grade. A female teacher invited a few of us to her house to help with chores after school. While we were there, we started gossiping about teachers at our school, including her, because she had left to run some errands.

We talked about many teachers, especially a young lady we thought was dating a new teacher. We said things I can’t even remember now.

The next day, during assembly, we were warned about the dangers of gossip. The girls who gossiped were called out and told about their actions. Everyone was surprised, including me. The teacher wasn’t there, and the apartment was small with a gated entrance. They must have thought, “Who told on us?”

It turned out that the “snitch” was the teacher's parrot! It had listened to everything and reported it accurately to the teacher. This really happened, and it stuck with me. I learned that a trained parrot can indeed do that.

OUR LESSON TODAY:

With God, we have a trustworthy friend. He’s a great ally who won’t betray our secrets. You can speak to Him openly; He will never shame you.

He understands your deepest feelings. In our anchor scripture, He says that He knew you even before you were born. He won’t call you out on social media because of a difficult relationship with Him.

He won’t judge you for your past. He is a friend you can rely on.

No matter how far you have strayed, if you return to Him, He will gladly welcome you back with love.

Let’s learn to trust this dependable friend because you can reach out to Him any time. His line is always open. When you feel overwhelmed, talk to Him, share your feelings, and He will guide you.

Read His words, and He will show you more of Himself.

REFLECTION: Think about today’s devotion. Check the areas of your life where you feel burdened.

PRAYERS: Heavenly Father, please help us trust in Your amazing love and teach us to depend more on You in Jesus' name. Amen.
