Topic: Ye Are the Salt of the Earth
Anchor Scripture: Matthew 5:13 - “You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt loses its flavor, how can it be made salty again? It is no longer good for anything, except to be thrown out and trampled underfoot.”
Welcome, in Jesus' name. Amen. Today, we will focus on two key lessons: "Value" and "Endurance."
In ancient times, salt was mixed with other minerals and was not pure. If it absorbed moisture, the useful part would be thrown away, and only the worthless part would remain.
Jesus used this example in Matthew 5:13 to remind us as Christians to keep our anointing. This divine power is important because losing our anointing makes us unable to fulfill our purpose.
As salt, you are valuable. Cherish your worth. You are called to preserve, cleanse, and bring value to every situation, leaving things better than you found them, not causing conflict or being a burden.
We are also encouraged to run with endurance (Hebrews 12:1). The image of running with endurance comes from ancient Greek competitions. It reminds us that although speed matters, it's distance and perseverance that are important in our spiritual journey. The Greek word "hupomones" means endurance.
Salt can last a long time unless it is dissolved in water or spoiled. In the same way, you can endure in a world full of negativity and challenges.
SUMMARY:
The writer of the Hebrew scriptures guides us to run our Christian race. It's not about how fast we run, but how far we go to win our heavenly prize. 👑
OUR ASSIGNMENTS TODAY:
Let’s be inspired by today's devotion to show the value of salt and to run our race with purpose, achieving meaningful distance.
PRAYERS:
Dear Lord, thank you for making us the salt of the earth. Help us to find the strength to run the race before us. In Jesus' name, Amen.
