The Blessing Edge: Turning Evil to Good

Anchor Scripture: > "The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he added no sorrow with it." — Proverbs 10:22

INTRODUCTION: The Shield of His Presence

Often, as we go about our daily lives, spiritual adversaries plot in the shadows. Yet, because you carry the Presence of God, He may not even allow you to perceive their schemes. Sometimes, however, He permits us to feel a "glimpse" of the enemy’s intent—a small measure of pain that serves to highlight the magnitude of the disaster His blessing actually averted. To understand how God's favor acts as a barrier, let’s look at a modern testimony and a timeless biblical truth.

A SISTER’S TESTIMONY: Preserved from the Ultimate Blow

One Christian sister endured a season of staggering loss: five family members passed away within just nine months—three in accidents and two to sickness. In the midst of this "terrible time," she felt the devil’s hand against her family but continued to pray fervently.

One morning, a song she barely knew began playing in her spirit. On her way to work, she was involved in a horrific accident. Though her leg was nearly amputated, the doctors eventually changed their minds, and she emerged as the sole survivor.

The Lesson: Why the accident if the blessing is a shield? Because the blessing prevented the ultimate goal of the enemy: her death. The "Blessing Edge" absorbed the brunt of the blow, preserving her life when the enemy intended total destruction.

The House of Obed-Edom: From Fear to Favor

In 2 Samuel 6, we see King David’s fear after Uzzah died for touching the Ark of God. Terrified, David diverted the Ark to the house of Obed-Edom the Gittite. David likely chose this for three reasons:

Proximity: It was the closest house to the tragedy.

Obed-Edom was a trained Levite, technically qualified to be near holy things.

Providence: David may have thought that if more tragedy was coming, it should happen to someone "ordinary."

THE DIVINE TURN AROUND

Instead of a funeral, the Ark brought a festival. After three months, word reached David: "The Lord has blessed the household of Obed-Edom and everything he has, because of the Ark of God" (v. 12). What David feared as a curse, Obed-Edom embraced as a blessing.

UNDERSTANDING THE BLESSINGS EDGE

The "Blessing Edge" is the supernatural perimeter God builds around His children. Here is what it provides:

A Divine Defense: According to Isaiah 65:8, as long as there is "new wine in the cluster," God says, "Do not destroy it, for there is a blessing in it." If you are connected to the Blessing, you are too valuable to be destroyed.

A Radiant Shield: Psalm 84:11 tells us the Lord is both a Sun and a Shield. He gives grace (the sun) and protection (the shield).

Anti-Poverty Provision: Proverbs 10:22 confirms that God’s blessing generates true wealth—not just financial, but a richness of spirit that does not come with the "sorrow" of worldly toil.

Sorrow-Proofing: The blessing acts as an insulator against the deep misfortune that breaks those without Christ.

CONCLUSION Carry the Presence

The Blessing of God is synonymous with His Presence. If you are a carrier of His Presence, you are inherently protected, preserved, and prosperous. When the enemy intends evil, the "Blessing Edge" ensures that even the attacks of the devil result in a testimony of God's goodness.

PRAYERS: Father, I thank You that what the devil intended for evil, You are turning for my good. Let Your Blessing Edge surround me today, and may Your presence be my constant shield. In Jesus’ name, Amen
