Topic: Taking Charge By Default
Anchor Scripture: Genesis 1:26 (NIV)
Then God said, "Let us make mankind in our image, in our likeness, so that they may rule over the fish in the sea and the birds in the sky, over the livestock and all the wild animals, and over all the creatures that move along the ground."
As a child of God, you are meant to take charge of your life and surroundings. If you don’t recognize this, you may struggle with things you should have control over, like your environment, family, and career.
Many years ago, a poor young man boarded a ship for the first time. He had a three-week journey across the sea and brought a few supplies with him. Sometimes, he went without eating, and other times he had only bread. He even used the toothpaste he brought as a substitute for butter. He later discovered that all his meals were included in the ticket he purchased, but he suffered needlessly for days because he didn't know.
EXAMPLES OF EVERYDAY THINGS:
Let’s talk about what it means to take charge. In Genesis, we learn we are meant to have authority. For example, every electronic device has a default setting. A computer often has “Times New Roman” as its font. Phones come with specific ringtones that only change if you adjust the settings.
So, what is the default?
It is the original or automatic setting a system uses unless someone changes it. At creation, you were designed to take control of your surroundings. You are meant to thrive in your career, relationships, health, or anything you work on, as stated in Genesis 1:28.
Because you are made in God’s image, you have His qualities and DNA. By default, you have been programmed to dominate your own territory. Anything that stops you from doing this is an enemy. Like a malware attack on a device, the devil tries to prevent us from taking control of our world.
You have power over all darkness, as mentioned in Luke 10:19. Use the Bible and God’s word to claim your authority over anything that stops you from acting as you were created to. Remember, you are designed to dominate by default. Take your rightful place now.
REFLECTION:
Think about today’s message and claim your position in whatever you are called to do.
PRAYERS:
Lord, thank you for your words today. Please take all the glory in Jesus' name. Amen.
