CHRISTIAN TREASURES
DEVOTION
SCRIPTURAL REFERENCE: 1 Peter 2:9 (NIV) – “But you are a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, God’s special possession, that you may declare the praises of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.”
Let us thank God for the gift of a new day. As believers, we are connected to the bloodline of Christ, which means we carry His royal blood within us. Revelation 1:6 tells us that God has made us believers kings and priests in His Kingdom. Praise God! Today's devotion reminds us of our privileged position in Christ Jesus, so we should not live in ignorance.
The British Royal Family
By Tradition, once a child is born into this Family, he/she is already part of a bloodline that signifies royal heritage. Once a child is born into this family, they are connected to this royal blood. From childhood, each child is assigned a chaperone, whose role is to ensure that the child behaves according to the rules of the Royal Family. There is established etiquette to follow. Here are some etiquettes associated with the British royal bloodline:
1. Two direct heirs to the throne cannot fly together to avoid risks in case of an emergency; they always travel separately.
2. Garlic is avoided during public engagements because of its strong smell.
3. The Monopoly game is considered too competitive, so it is banned to prevent arguments.
4. Seafood is not eaten to avoid the risk of food poisoning during official events.
5. Each family member is weighed before and after Christmas dinners.
6. Each child has their own chaperone during public outings.
There are more rules, but that's a brief overview for our devotion today.
THE EAGLE
The eagle is unlike any other bird; it is regarded as the king of all birds. Just as believers are compared to eagles in Isaiah 40:31, eagles embody a certain level of royalty. They do not associate with chickens or vultures, which are known for their dirty habits and scavenging. Eagles possess the strength to see far and are very selective about what they eat. As kings among birds, they do not mix with anything beneath their standards.
THE LION
In Proverbs 30:30, the Bible describes the lion as the king of the jungle. Lions do not shy away from challenges; their cubs feel secure because of their inherent royalty. These majestic creatures influence and rule their territory. Lions often mark their territory with roars that can be heard up to five miles away, reminding other animals of their dominance.
Daniel And His Friends In Babylon
(Daniel 1:8-16)
Daniel and his friends were captives in Babylon. King Nebuchadnezzar commanded that smart young men be brought to his palace to learn Babylonian laws and serve him. Daniel and his friends were chosen, and the king ordered that they be fed the same food as he ate to ensure they were healthy and strong. However, Daniel and his friends requested only water and vegetables for ten days, refusing the king's food. They wanted to avoid defilement according to Mosaic Law, which forbade certain foods. They understood their identity and did not want to become like ordinary people. This choice illustrates what royalty entails.
Today’s scriptural reference reminds us that through our bloodline in Christ Jesus, we possess royalty. We are chosen and peculiar (not just ordinary people) and are created to represent Jesus through good works. This means we cannot behave like people in the world; we should not frequent places like nightclubs or isolate ourselves from fellow believers. Instead, we should show love and compassion.
How to Stir the Royalty Inside You
The Bible tells us that throughout generations, God does not leave Himself without witnesses. He does this by raising people to rule in their spheres of influence; these individuals are recognized as kings because they possess the expertise needed in their fields. As believers, we must rule positively in our chosen endeavors—whether in careers, politics, family, or other areas of life.
LIFE LESSONS: Once you give your life to Jesus Christ, you connect to the spiritual bloodline. The Devil doesn’t care if you are born again; what matters to him is whether you know your rights and make demands. He thrives on our ignorance. Today, start to rule in your sphere of influence by asserting your rights and embracing the royalty that is within you!
LET'S PRAY: Dear Lord, thank you for your words to me today. Be glorified in Jesus' name, amen. Thank you for my heritage in Christ Jesus. To you be the glory in Jesus' name amen.
