Topic: She Danced Again (You Don’t Need a Foot to Dance)

Anchor Scripture: Philippians 4:13 (NKJV): “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”**

Welcome and be blessed, richly in Jesus' name. Amen. Today, I am moved to share the incredible story of Kat Hawkins, a woman from Singapore.

"Dancing was a language," she began. "It was my lifeline. I devoted everything to it. My legs, my time, my passion—everything was committed to my first love. As a child and teenager, dancing filled my heart. But that changed one morning during my first year at university.

I awoke feeling unwell and was rushed to the hospital. The doctors diagnosed me with meningitis B, a deadly infection. My family was told I might not survive the night, but I did. I lived.

Then came the heartbreaking news: my knees would need to be amputated because the infection cut off the blood flow.

A Different Life: It felt as though my world had shattered. I could no longer dance and felt ashamed to look in the mirror. I was too embarrassed to tell people I was an amputee.

A New Life:Ms. Hawkins shared that she had to relearn how to walk, just like a child. Adapting to a wheelchair, crutches, and eventually prosthetic legs was an arduous journey. Learning to walk with these new structures was no small feat.

Back on Course Seven years later, I discovered Candocu, an organization for both able and disabled dancers. I found my community there and felt at home. No longer feeling unwanted, I began to see my prosthetic legs as tools for expanding my physical vocabulary.

What a powerful lesson from Ms. Hawkins! No matter your current circumstances—perhaps an accident or illness has left a scar—you can defy the odds. Embrace your challenges as opportunities for growth. It’s natural to feel low at times, but don’t linger there too long.

Tips on What to Do:

1. Seek God’s direction.

2. Find professionals to help you regain your confidence.

3. Consult skilled medical professionals, especially good Christians.

4. Discover new ways to navigate your new life.

5. Connect with others who share similar experiences.

6. Pray for guidance on how God wants to use your new life.

7. Take bold steps if you feel led.

Follow these steps and consider taking a leadership course to inspire others facing similar challenges.

What Do We Learn Today?

Our anchor Scripture reminds us that we can do all things through the strength of Christ. Let Ms. Hawkins’ story inspire you: "See your challenges as instruments for expressing your potential."

Reference: Let’s reflect on how we can apply today’s devotion to our lives. May God grant us understanding in all things, in Jesus' name. Amen.

Prayers: Our Heavenly Father, thank You for Your boundless love. Thank You for the gifts You provide. Lord, grant us the grace to appreciate You in every situation and to make the most of our circumstances, in Jesus' mighty name. Amen.
