Topic:” PRAYING UNRIGHT

Anchor Scripture: Philippians 4:6-7 (KJV)**

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.”

Welcome to today's devotion. Be blessed!

Today, I want to share an inspiring testimony from a beloved brother in my house fellowship to highlight the importance of praying with the right motive.

Brother Sam (real name withheld) was on his way to Sunday Service when, as usual, he decided to give some people a lift to church. A few minutes later, his car started jerking and came to a complete stop.

He got out and did everything he could, but the car refused to work. Unfortunately, the people he was helping ended up arriving late to church, and he missed the service entirely.

“I had never felt so embarrassed and frustrated in my life as I did that day,” he shared. The following day (Monday), he went to the church, knelt at the altar, and cried out to God, asking, “If you can give me another car in a short time, I will continue to carry people on my way to church.”

Two days later, he received a call from the organization he had bid for a contract with a few months earlier, informing him that he should come and start the contract. He expressed how surprising this was because he had completely forgotten about the contract, thinking he lacked the financial means to pursue it. The shocking part was that he was paid upfront.

After completing the contract, he joyfully exclaimed, “My machine came!” referring to his new car.

What Does the Bible Say About Praying with the Right Motive?**

“You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.” (James 4:3, NKJV)

“Your fasting ends in quarreling and strife, and in striking each other with wicked fists. You cannot fast as you do today and expect your voice to be heard on high.” (Isaiah 58:4)

What are you praying about today?

Do you want that promotion at work to oppress your subordinates? Why do you desire a new car?

OUR ASSIGNMENT TODAY:

Let's learn how to pray the right way. Ask the Holy Spirit to guide your prayers, and you will see your light break forth in Jesus’ name.

*REFLECTION:*

What are you currently praying for? Does it align with the will of the Holy Spirit?

PRAYER:

Dear Lord, we come to you today asking for forgiveness for praying with the wrong motives. We ask for the grace to pray the right prayers. In Jesus' name, amen.
