Topic: JUST ONE LIFE

Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 9:27 (NIV)*“Just as people are destined to die once, and after that to face judgment.”

Today is a wonderful day—be blessed in Jesus' name! Amen. Let’s embrace our anchor Scripture, which powerfully reminds us that we have just one life. This truth urges us to protect our lives with deep commitment.

I vividly remember a moment with my aunt while she was driving. A car sped past us so recklessly that it seemed like the driver was being chased by the devil himself. Stunned, my aunt declared: “Why do people speed as if they have another life waiting for them at home, allowing them to lose one outside and simply retrieve another?”

This resonated deeply with me. Many people live without awareness, drifting through life without purpose. It raises the question: Do they believe they can just replace their lives?

Our anchor Scripture is a sobering reminder: we are permitted to live only once, and afterward, we will face judgment. Recently, I heard of a man who rode a bike at night without lights or a helmet and, to make matters worse, was drunk. He collided with an oncoming trailer and tragically lost his life.

Why embark on such a perilous journey that jeopardizes life? The devil offers nothing good; his aim is to kill, steal, and destroy, as stated in John 10:10. So why hand over our lives to him?

We have Jesus, the mediator of a new covenant—the covenant of life, not death. We possess not just life in Christ; we have an abundant life. This signifies that our lives are filled with purpose; as believers, we must not drift aimlessly.

Our lives are precious to God. This is what our Lord and Savior fought for—to ensure we live purposefully. We must make intentional choices: work diligently when it's time to labor, and enjoy our rest when the moment calls for it.

As believers, we do not own our lives; God owns them. We must be mindful of how we live. God desires for every one of us to experience an abundant life in Christ Jesus.

Secondly, it's wise to recognize the devil's tactics, so we don't hand over our lives to him to destroy. He already knows his destination and is angered, this is why the Bible describes him as a lion who goes about seeking whom to destroy.

Reflection:Take a moment to examine how you are currently living. Are you truly guarding your life jealously by being aware of how you live?

Prayers:Lord Jesus, thank you for giving us life and for the incredible gift of your Son, Jesus Christ. To you be all the glory, in Jesus' name. Amen.
