Topic: DON'T SELL YOUR DESTINY
Anchor Scripture: Hebrews 12:16 (NIV)
“See that no one is sexually immoral, or is godless like Esau, who for a single meal sold his inheritance rights as the oldest son.”
Welcome to another wonderful time in His presence. May you be richly blessed in Jesus' name. Amen.
In 1976, Ronald Wayne was one of the three founders of the iconic Apple brand, co-founding it alongside Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak. However, fearing financial risk, he sold his 10 percent stake just 12 days after the company was established for only $800. Today, that stake could be worth over $200 billion.
Our Lesson Today: Do not let fear rob you of your destiny. If you feel led by the Spirit of God to start a business or learn a new skill, do not let fear deter you. God has placed opportunities in your hands, but discouragement may have made you feel unworthy or unwilling to pursue them. Even amidst scorn for your passions, remember the importance of pursuing what you love.
Selling your destiny can take many forms. Our anchor scripture highlights the story of Esau, who traded his birthright for a momentary meal. One can imagine him pleading with his brother, “Just give me the food; who cares?”
It’s often not an outright sale of our destiny, but rather a careless attitude. If you neglect an opportunity, someone else may seize it and create a better version of what you let slip away.
Ecclesiastes 9:10 states, “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for there is no work, device, knowledge, or wisdom in the grave where you are going.”
*Reflection: Are you currently engaged in something or preparing for something new but feeling discouraged or fearful? Why not commit it into God's hands? He will surely direct your path.
Prayers: Our Father in heaven, please grant us the grace and will to take the right steps in everything we do, in Jesus' name. Amen.
