Anchor Scripture: “And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ’s sake hath forgiven you.” — Ephesians 4:32 KJV
Kindness, a crucial aspect of humanity, seems to be disappearing from our world today. A couple of months ago, I was at an organization waiting for feedback after a transaction with other clients. Due to poor Internet connectivity, the small reception area, which had only a few seats, became crowded. As I looked around, I noticed a fairly elderly man, and I quickly beckoned him over to offer him my seat. He thanked me profusely for the gesture.
However, as I looked up, I noticed disapproval on the faces of some ladies nearby. Their expressions seemed to convey the message, “This is old-fashioned; who does this anymore?” I was still contemplating their silent judgment when I was called to the front desk.
Today, the love of many has grown cold, and even simple acts of courtesy seem to be rare. People often feel so entitled that they fail to consider how their actions affect others, as long as they themselves are comfortable. But what does the scripture say? “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid.” — Matthew 5:14. We are called to do good deeds wherever we go, so that the world can see where we come from and who we truly are.
**Prayer:** Lord, we ask for the grace to be bearers of light wherever we go, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
