Scriptural Reference: Proverbs 30:28 (KJV) - “The spider taketh hold with her hands, and is in kings' palaces.”
Welcome, and be blessed in Jesus' name. Amen.
The Lord wants the reader of today's devotion to know that in this year, 2026, you must dream big. You need to know your direction, your destination, and your purposeful directions. Often, our purpose lies hidden in what we take for granted.
Remember, anything that cannot cross your mind cannot cross your path. If it's too big to imagine, it will be too big to picture. If it's too far-fetched to visualize, it will be too much to capture. Height can elevate you, but the strength and determination you possess will determine how far you can go in life.
If you are still struggling with how to navigate this year, and it feels like a “game of Ludo,” it’s time to look inward once again in this New Year.
A Pastor’s Life Story
A well-known pastor shared that his mother once told him how, as a little boy of about five, he would gather various items to create his imaginary congregation. Using a stick as a microphone, he would pray for his imaginary church members and lay hands on them. Today, he is a pastor sharing his own story because he understood two things: direction and purpose.
Example 2
Another man of God recounted the story of his son, who is now twenty years old. His son would gather throw pillows and any items he could find to create an audience. He used the television remote control as a microphone to sing and preach to imaginary people. Even while still in school, he has already charted a course for his life after graduation. This highlights the importance of knowing your purpose and direction, especially now that the year is still young.
Lessons from the Spider
In Proverbs 30:28, we learn that the spider, as small and seemingly insignificant as it is, manages to work its way up to the king's palace. To gain attention from a president or leader, one must be exceptionally skillful and different from others. For example, David’s hard work and skillfulness brought him to the palace. This is what the spider exemplifies.
Life Lessons
This year, ensure you:
1. Know your purpose.
2. Walk in your direction, not someone else's.
3. Become so skilled in your calling that you can stand before great men and women.
4. Allow your purpose to align with the blueprint of the Lord Almighty. Any purpose or direction you pursue this year that does not include God is merely a walk without meaningful work.
Our scriptural reference highlights that while the spider may be small and seemingly insignificant, it diligently uses its hands to work in such a skillful way that it reaches the king's palace.
The lesson from the first story about the pastor is that he built his purpose by looking within. This year, reflect deeply to discover what will work for you.
Stop wishing and start working. Jesus said, "My Father works, and I work."
Assignment: Resolve to work this year. Keep your hands busy doing something, no matter how small. You must take responsibility and work to make things happen, rather than merely wishing for them.
Prayers: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for your words to me today. Teach me to work within your purpose for my life. To you alone be the glory. Amen.
