It all began with a land dispute involving two beloved deities, "Ram" and "Hanuman," and a devoted temple priest. The priest staunchly claimed a 1.4-acre plot of land as his own, while the villagers believed it rightfully belonged to their revered gods.

In an unprecedented twist, the court was called to settle a divine matter. Yes, you heard that right! Ram and Hanuman were summoned to make an appearance in front of a judge.

THE TRADITION

This may sound unbelievable, but it sheds light on a captivating aspect of Indian culture, where myths and legends often intersect with real-life situations. During the British colonial period in the 19th century, similar cases surfaced, leading to gods receiving legal recognition and, astonishingly, appearing in court.

MODERN TIMES APPLICATION

In this peculiar case, the judge in Jharkhand issued a summons to Ram, Hanuman, and the village priest. A local newspaper announcement went out, urging the deities to make their presence known in court. However, much to the judge's dismay, the gods failed to appear, despite several calls for their attendance.

The summons stated: "You have neglected to appear in court despite notifications sent through messengers and registered post. You are hereby ordered to show up in person."
