LEARN HOW TO LIVE THE FULL LIFE. WHY YOU MUST MOVE WITH THE WISE.

Scriptural Reference: : John 10:10 NIV: “The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.”

Joe entered his apartment and immediately flung himself onto his bed. Although he was exhausted from work, he felt a surge of energy that came not only from the physical but also from a profound inner peace. This assurance had filled him with energy daily since he gave his life to Christ a few weeks ago.

Before that, Joe had felt as though his life was over. He had battled severe depression and nearly lost everything. Now, at 29 years of age, he took a deep breath as he tried to loosen his tie, knowing he didn’t have to put himself under pressure anymore. This time, he was confident that Christ was in control of his life.

Reflecting on his past, Joe remembered how, for nearly two years, he had struggled with alcoholism and drugs, which had led him into deep depression following his relationship with Emilia, his fiancée. They had known each other since high school, and although he had earned a degree in geology, they had lost contact for several years. When he ran into her again two years ago, he noticed she looked like a shadow of her former self.

As they exchanged pleasantries, Emilia seemed to be hiding her own depression. Joe invited her to tea, and over the course of their conversation, she broke down in tears, sharing that she was just coming out of a broken relationship where she felt used and discarded.

Joe, who had experienced a similar situation, opened up about his own past with a previous girlfriend. This shared vulnerability brought them closer, and after that afternoon, they became inseparable friends. Emilia gradually returned to her bubbly self, and soon they began dating. After a few months, they started making plans to meet each other's families. Joe looked forward to building a life together with her, even though she was still job-hunting.

However, Joe began to notice changes in Emilia’s behavior. She became less communicative, taking hours to return his calls, and visiting him less frequently. When he asked about the changes, she offered vague excuses related to work commitments. Eventually, he confronted her about the lies, and while she apologized, their relationship continued to deteriorate.

One Saturday, Emilia called him to end the relationship. Joe had sensed something was wrong, but the abruptness still shocked him. She explained that she was rekindling her relationship with her ex-fiancé, the same man she had previously claimed had left her for someone richer and more educated.

Joe was devastated. For days, he sank back into drinking, questioning whether something was wrong with him. He wasn't someone who kept many friends, and everything felt empty. One night, he wandered into a pub where he met someone who introduced him to drugs, promising that they would help him forget his worries. Instead, he became addicted and eventually lost his job.

His family intervened and took him to a rehab center. Each time he left, he would seem clean for a while but then relapse into drug use. He lost all zest for life—until five months ago, when a new counselor came to the center. This counselor was different; she reached out to him personally, sharing Bible verses, praying with him, and preaching about God’s love.

After two weeks of her unwavering support, she led him in a prayer of salvation. That day, he wept and called on the Lord for mercy. Something shifted inside him—it was just days before he left rehab. The counselor then connected him with Pastor Edglar and his wife, who welcomed him into their family and continued to nourish him with the Word of God. In just two weeks, Joe was able to restart his life.

Now, here he is today, 29 years old and with a new job. He understands that his life has never been better.

Our Scriptural Reference reminds us that Jesus came to offer life abundantly. Outside of Christ, life is filled with chaos and crisis. The devil's agenda is to kill, steal, and destroy. When problems arise, always take your burdens to the Lord. Build relationships with friends who are rooted in Christ; they will support you during tough times. Remember, never isolate yourself, as it can lead to despair and thoughts of suicide.
