Welcome to today's devotional reading. May you be blessed as you engage with these insights, in Jesus' name, amen. Today’s reading highlights the importance of aligning our thoughts, priorities, values, and intentions with divine truth, equipping us to make the right decisions in challenging situations. Let’s reflect on this through a powerful story.
Some years ago, in a country besieged by terrorism, a community faced brutal attacks from Islamist terrorists who sought to eliminate those differing in faith. It was a harrowing night when a missionary and his family sensed their home might be the next target. Acting swiftly to protect his family, the missionary decided to flee to safety, unsure of where to go but convinced it was the right choice. He took his wife, nursing their three-month-old baby, along with their two other young children.
They found a dilapidated, uncompleted building to hide in. Tragically, the terrorists spotted them fleeing and pursued them. In their concealed location, they watched in fear as the attackers searched the bushes. The missionary urged his family to remain silent, but the innocent cries of the baby pierced the night air. Despite the mother’s desperate efforts to hush the child, the terrorists grew close, chanting threats and curses.
In an agonizing moment of desperation, the missionary made a heartbreaking choice. He covered the baby’s mouth to silence the cries, but it led to a tragic outcome – the baby died.
Though they survived the night, sorrow blanketed their family. The missionary’s wife, engulfed in grief, accused him of killing their child. He struggled to convey that his intention was to save the family, while she weighed the prospect of leaving him. It was a painful predicament.
This profound story illustrates the necessity of embodying the mind of Christ, guiding us to make wise decisions, especially in critical moments.
Possessing the mind of Christ is crucial in navigating the complexities of life. Isaiah 28:29 reminds us that God is perfect in His works, and His counsel is always infused with goodness.
How to Have the Mind of Christ:
1. Read the Scriptures consistently and seek understanding.
2. To discern God’s will, turn to the Bible; if unavailable, begin speaking in tongues. Every child of God should embrace this gift.
3. Pray for divine intervention to confuse the enemy, keeping God's word close to your heart.
4. The Holy Spirit is our unshakable Counselor, Helper, Comforter, and Teacher, always present with us.
5. Engage in worship and praise, for the melodies you have sung may provide direction and reveal solutions in trying times.
