Researchers in the United States have developed a method that could potentially lead to the birth of babies without the involvement of a biological mother.

The fundamental idea is to generate a sex cell from skin cells, which can then be fertilized with sperm. This approach could theoretically enable a baby to be conceived with two genetic fathers and no mother.

One individual could supply the skin necessary for the artificial egg cell, while the other would provide the sperm.

This technique might also be advantageous for women facing fertility issues due to age or other factors.

The scientists have successfully fertilized several artificial egg cells with sperm, resulting in some embryos. However, these embryos were terminated after six days, which is the typical duration before embryos are transferred to the uterus during in vitro fertilization (IVF).

Despite this progress, the technique is not yet flawless. Among the 82 fertilized eggs produced, only nine percent developed into embryos, and all of them exhibited chromosomal abnormalities.

Dr. Paula Amato, a professor of obstetrics and gynecology at Oregon Health and Science University, commented, “In theory, this technique could produce an unlimited supply of eggs. The DNA from the skin cells can originate from anyone, even those who do not possess any eggs, such as older women, those who have undergone cancer treatment, or individuals born without eggs. This allows for the creation of eggs that are genetically identical to the skin cell provider, which enables them to have a genetically related child.”

She also noted the chromosomal problems with the created embryos, explaining that they all had either too many chromosomes, too few, or were missing one from each pair. “These embryos would not be expected to develop into a normal baby,” she said.

Although many scientists regard this advancement as a significant milestone, it remains in the early stages of development. Ironically, it may ultimately provide support to women who are experiencing difficulties in conceiving.

The takeaway:

According to scientists, life can be created without the presence of a woman.

Natural processes of making and birthing a baby can be bypassed

It's a developing process with lots of abnormalities, but it's a possibility someday.

Two men can become parents through this process.

It's helpful for older women, individuals born without eggs, and other factors

What does it portray for us Christians.?

We recognized that the Almighty God is the creator of life. And he has power over life and death. Psalm 139:13.

What does it mean for future generations? Can abnormal babies be formed out of this?

What does it mean to our faith ,and God's plan for reproductions?

Whatever may be the case, we should not forget. What the book of Daniel says: Towards the End. Increase in the knowledge shall abound.
