Topic: FORGIVE AS YOUR HEAVENLY FATHER
Anchor Scripture: Matthew 6:14 - “For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you.”
Welcome! It's a beautiful day. May you be blessed as you read, in Jesus' name. Amen.
The book of Matthew 18:23-33 provides a profound example of forgiveness. It tells the story of an unforgiving servant whose master canceled his debt. However, the servant went straight to a fellow servant who owed him money, began to beat him, and demanded repayment. When the master heard about this, he became angry with the unforgiving servant.
This story serves as a lesson in the school of forgiveness. Yes, some people's evil deeds can be so severe that it becomes difficult to forgive. However, it is essential to let go, as holding onto bitterness is detrimental to our health.
OUR LESSONS TODAY:
- Unforgiveness can block our prayers from God.
- In Matthew, we are instructed to sort out our differences before approaching the throne of grace.
- A bitter heart can never be joyful. (Proverbs 17:22)
Friends, our Father in heaven forgives us first. The Bible tells us that while we were yet sinners, Christ forgave us our sins. Because of our inherited sinful nature, we all need His grace.
PRAYER: Almighty God, we asked for the grace to forgive those who sin against us, just as you forgive us our sins in Jesus name amen.
