Topic: “Blessed to be a Blessing”
Anchor Scripture:Proverbs 19:17 (NKJV) states, "He who has pity on the poor lends to the Lord, and He will pay back what he has given."
What a beautiful Sunday it was when our church committee gathered after service, brimming with ideas on how to care for the less fortunate among us! Our hearts were filled with purpose as we discussed ways to make a difference in our community. However, as the conversation progressed, it seemed everyone was hesitant to commit financially for the upcoming quarters.
Then, a wonderful man from our midst rose to the occasion. With joy and determination, he volunteered to cover the expenses for the entire year! What a relief it was for everyone else! Not only did his generosity shine through, but it also sparked a remarkable change in his life. His business flourished, his health improved, and blessings poured in from every direction!
Fast forward to the following year, and the committee reconvened to once again discuss contributions to the needy. As the head of the committee made the announcement, our generous friend eagerly raised his hand to take on the responsibility once more. This time, there were no hesitations—everyone wanted to join him in this joyful act of giving! After all, when you see the fruits of generosity, Evidence ends all arguments!
WHY THE REPAYMENT BY THE LORD
Proverbs 19:17 reminds us that when we give to those in need, we are essentially lending to the Lord, who promises to repay us in abundance! Isn’t that amazing? The law of sowing and reaping (Genesis 8:22) is in action all around us, regardless of our beliefs. We see countless individuals, some not even of the faith, generously giving to charitable causes, and they thrive!
Withholding our resources leads to scarcity, but when we open our hands and scatter our blessings, we gather so much more! Just like it says in Proverbs 11:24—what a delightful mystery!
LESSON: Giving isn’t limited to believers; even nonbelievers can experience the bounty of generosity. So why should we, the children of the kingdom, hold back? Let's embrace the abundant joy of sharing!
The sooner we start viewing our resources as gifts from God to manage wisely, the more blessings we will witness in our lives.
REFLECTION: Let’s take a joyful moment to reflect as believers. There is always something we can give! Kind words, a helping hand, and love are all precious gifts, not just money.
PRAYERS: May the Lord fill our hearts with grace and compassion to see and uplift those in need around us. Let’s spread kindness and love in Jesus's name, Amen!
