Topic: Be a Generational Influencer in Your Realm (2)
Scriptural Reference: 1 Peter 2:9 (NLT)
“But you are not like that, for you are a chosen people. You are royal priests, a holy nation, God’s very own possession. As a result, you can show others the goodness of God, for he called you out of the darkness into his wonderful light.”
Welcome to the most beautiful and amazing month of 2025—Amen!
Today’s devotional looks deeper into how generational influencers were made in Scripture, what qualified them, and how we can learn from their lives today.
This is not about the digital influencers our world celebrates—those who gain popularity from entertainment, lifestyle, or beauty trends for fame or wealth.
A generational influencer is someone whose ideas, character, innovation, faith, or skill brings lasting positive change to humanity, and who commands influence in their God-given sphere.
Let us explore some of these biblical influencers whose impact shaped generations.
BIBLICAL GENERATIONAL INFLUENCERS
1. Animal Husbandry – Abraham
Abraham was a generational influencer and a commander in the realm of livestock.
In his time, livestock was the primary measure of wealth. Though the Bible does not list the exact number he owned, Scripture shows that his flocks were so vast that Lot’s herdsmen could no longer coexist with his.
Abraham also led a large and well-structured household—so well trained that 318 men born under his roof could mobilize to rescue Lot (Genesis 14:14).
He was indeed a generational commander and influencer.
2. Irrigation & Agricultural Innovation – Isaac
Isaac was another powerful influencer in his generation. During a severe famine in Gerar, God inspired him to re-dig his father’s wells and dig new ones. These wells supported irrigation that expanded his farming and livestock.
Every well he dug produced water, increasing his wealth until the Philistines became jealous.
In Genesis 26:16, King Abimelech asked him to leave, saying “Move away from us; you have become too powerful for us.”
Isaac’s influence grew so great that a king felt threatened.
3. Introduction to Genetic Engineering – Jacob
Jacob’s story introduces the earliest recorded form of genetic understanding and selective breeding.
Because Laban repeatedly cheated him changing his wages ten times—God gave Jacob a divine dream revealing how cross-breeding could produce streaked, spotted, and speckled livestock (Genesis 30).
Laban gave Jacob an unfair deal, expecting him to remain poor since most animals were solid-colored. Yet God revealed strategies that multiplied Jacob’s flocks supernaturally.
Modern research has shown that some of the botanical materials Jacob used—such as poplar and almond sticks—have health and fertility benefits for livestock.
Jacob’s success required:
Knowledge of animal behavior
Health and medicinal insight
Awareness of recessive genetic traits
And most importantly, divine revelation
Jacob became a generational influencer whose methods informed agricultural practice for centuries.
4. Government Administration – Daniel
Daniel was an extraordinary governmental influencer. His excellence was so unmatched that he served under four different kings—an impossible feat in ancient politics.
His integrity, wisdom, and spiritual insight threatened corrupt officials, leading to the plot that landed him in the lions’ den.
Daniel’s influence was so strong that even kings recognized the hand of God upon him.
Other Biblical Influencers
We could speak of:
Solomon, whose wisdom attracted the Queen of Sheba and leaders across nations
Job, a man of righteousness, wealth, and influence in his time
Their lives show that God raises influencers who shape societies.
CONTEMPORARY GENERATIONAL INFLUENCERS
Sir Isaac Newton
Newton, a devoted Christian scientist, believed deeply that natural laws reflected the order of God’s creation. His work transformed physics, mathematics, and engineering.
Influential thinkers like Voltaire and John Locke built societal theories from Newton’s discoveries.
His contribution to calculus and scientific study makes him a powerful influencer whose impact still shapes our world.
